Professor Michael Witbrock and Dr. Vithya Yogarajan recently participated in the AI Health Workshop and Symposium hosted by the Office of the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor. They joined esteemed colleagues such as Sir Ashley Bloomfield, Professor Jim Warren, and Associate Professor Michael O’Sullivan from the University of Auckland, along with other distinguished experts from across New Zealand.
Our two members were on the expert panel, which influenced the recently published report, ‘Capturing the Benefits of AI in Healthcare for Aotearoa New Zealand.’ This report, which we highlighted in a previous post, explores the integration of AI technologies within our healthcare systems.
The workshop focused on actionable steps derived from the report’s findings, aiming to make substantial advancements in healthcare. The symposium featured a keynote by Dr. Diana Sarfati, the Director-General of Health and Chief Executive of the Ministry of Health, who also discussed the report’s implications.
